Using Alternative Energy
Resources for a Better World
On television and in newspapers, world news is spreading
fast about the ongoing reduction of oil reserves. As it should,
this type of news is causing a lot of people to worry,
especially as we see current lifestyles putting a greater
demand on energy sources. Today, the number one type of energy
used is oil, which is not only running low but it is also
expensive. Therefore, it is the time to search for viable
alternative energy resources to provide the world with a
continuous supply.
United States Coal
Available in Large Quantities
When talking about the different types of alternative energy
resources, one is coal, which is actually found throughout the
United States and in great numbers. In fact, the amount of
available coal far exceeds oil in Saudi Arabia. For many
generations, coal has sustained people, helping to produce
electricity while also producing syn-fuels that when used the
right way, have shown to be a highly beneficial alternative
energy resource.
Another option for alternative energy resources is with
heavy oil. In fact, heavy oil has been shown to be more
effective than most people think. A resource that is also a
great consideration is natural gas. Today, natural gas is being
used to make electricity and being so easy to find, it is also
a primary heating fuel. The benefit is that natural gas burns
extremely clean and in addition to heating homes, it can be
used as automobile fuel.
A useful type of alternative energy resource is with nuclear
power, which is often misunderstood. When processed
appropriately, nuclear power can create large scale electricity
but the major challenge is that this type of natural energy is
difficult to dispose of. Even alcohol can be used as a type of
bio-fuel for an alternative energy resource. Since they are
produced from plants to include hemp and corn, they are clean
and easy to renew.
Hydrogen, or water power, is probably one of the most
abundant of all alternative energy resources. With the planet
being comprised of 70% water, it seems a shame that water is
not being tapped into on a greater level. Additionally,
hydrogen as an energy source can be produced from a variety of
compounds and then stored so the process is cost efficient. One
of the largest and most common types of alternative energy
resources is solar power, which comes from the sun. In fact,
solar power is currently generating electricity and if it were
increased, the sun could provide enough electricity to power
the entire world.
Even wind should not be overlooked as an alternative energy
resource. When harnessed correctly, the amount of electricity
produced is quite significant. Many experts are pushing for
wind as a future solution in that it is free, easy to get and
it works. With needs changing, we all realize that changes are
imperative and the sooner the better.
